10 Most-Awaited Gadgets Of 2012
The year 2011 has been a very eventful and rich year as far as gadgets are concerned, with many big releases like iPhone 4S, iPad 2, Galaxy S II made their way to public. So we are hoping that year 2012 will bring a new revolution in the world of smartphone and tablets and many more great inventions will be unleashed and at CES 2012, we caught glimpse of that. So being in first month of this year, we have compiled a list of 10 most awaited gadgets, which we are likely to get in upcoming months.
1. Apple iPad 3
It’s been quite some time after Apple has released iPad 2. Unsurprisingly the most anticipated gadget in 2012 is from Apple family and that is iPad 3. iPad 2 was very good in terms of performance and looks and received instant success as it racked up around 61.5% shares in global tablet market. The iPad 3 is expected to carry lots of upgrades like A6 processor, high-definition retina display screen, USB 3.0 connectivity and 4G LTE support.
As per reports we’ve received in past, it has reached manufacturing stage and it is said to sport a brighter display.
2. Apple iPhone 5
Next gadget on our list is none other than iPhone 5, which is very obvious choice and probably the most awaited device for over a year. Although Apple has gained top position with the success of iPhone 4, iPhone 4S failed to repeat the success and therefore great hype for iPhone 5 is being created. We expect few changes in design as well as in hardware specifications. People can surely hope for at least larger 4-inch display along with 4G LTE and NFC capabilities. Some are even suggesting that we might get a quad-core processor for blazing performance.
3. Google Tablet
Since Erik Schmidt, Google president has hinted that company is will have its own tablet in market to compete with Apple’ iPad series; I was eagerly waiting for official and more revealing announcement from Google. Although no such announcement was made, we can deduce that it will be launched within 6 months. While talking to an Italian newspaper Eric quoted that company would be “marketing tablet with highest quality” and “users can expect brutal competition for iPad series”.
4. Samsung Galaxy S III
With the sale of around 10 million units in first three months of the launch, Samsung Galaxy S II earned never-the-before popularity for Galaxy series by Samsung. Galaxy S II was one of the fastest smartphone, when it was released. After the launch of Galaxy S II, Samsung subsequently launched many variants of Galaxy series (latest being Galaxy S Advance, which is due for release) but none tasted popularity like S II. So now many gadget freaks are waiting for the successor of Galaxy S II. Rumors report that Galaxy S III will have the quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM along with Samsung’s Super AMOLED Plus big screen.
Umm, even I can’t wait to get my hands on it! What about you?
5. Sony PSP Vita
As we all know that Sony brought new revolution in portable gaming by inventing PSPs. Nowadays mobile gaming is becoming more popular than PSP and other gaming consoles but Sony is all set to create same buzz it created previously with all new PlayStation Vita. Vita will be a fully redesigned PSP equipped with touch screen display of resolution 960 × 540 qHD, two analogue sticks, quad Core processor and much more. It is expected to be released in the same month as we are now, February.
6. Apple MacBook Pro (Retina Display)
Once again Apple has successfully marked its name in this list but this time with MacBook series. People have much expectations from Apple MacBook Pro as it is said to sport Retina Display. If the ongoing rumors are right then we can surely get MacBook Pro this year with high resolution (2880×1800px) and Retina Display. It will probably have much better hardware than previous one and loaded with new version of Mac OS X.
7. Windows 8 tablet
Now almost everyone knows that Microsoft is on the verge of launching new version of its flagship operating system Windows under the name Windows 8. Microsoft also revealed that its has designed this operating systems keeping tablet PCs in mind and thus we can surely expect the same trend to be repeated with tablets. We are expecting tablets running on Windows 8 which has very less start-up time, this year. If the company gets it right, the new gadget will rule over the market but for that we will have to wait and watch.
8. Android 4.0 (Ice-Cream Sandwich) Tablets
We have seen many tablets running on different versions of Android and they run fine but we are yet to see any tablet running on Android’s latest version, Ice-Cream Sandwich. Till now we have observed tablets like Galaxy Tab 7.7, Amazon Kindle Fire which utilizes older versions of OS. They provide decent if not the best, performance. So here we are rooting now for tablets with latest Android version which is said to carry many new features.
9. Nintendo Wii U
These next generation gaming consoles have some unique features like in-built 6.2-inch touchscreen which also works with your display. Apart from this, it can also be used as portable gaming device. Although company has not officially announced its release date, let’s keep our finder crossed for 2012.
10. HDTV from Apple and Google
At CES 2012, we witnessed technology being re-invented as LG launched world’s largest OLED panel along with 84-inch HDTV. Thus this year, we can expect electronic giants like Apple and Google to launch their own HDTVs to capture the market. Apple is expected to launch its HDTV this year with screen size varying between 27 to 42 inches. It would be powered by Apple’s mobile OS and can be use for playing games, to watch videos, to run applications and lots more.
Google too, expected to launch its HDTV platform this year which can be controlled by Android device. The HDTV will also be able to utilize applications like Chrome browser to surf the internet and other Android Apps. Google president claimed that by summer 2012, almost all TV sets will run on this platform.
