Sony Unveils Two Xperia Variants at Mobile World Congress
As it was expected, Sony revealed two new variants of Xperia series, Xperia P and Xperia U respectively. At an event held at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, the company unveiled these two dual-core smart phones. This event was first individual press-conference by Sony after it parted ways with Ericsson. Now all the smartphones are manufactured by a division of company under name “Sony Mobile Communication.”
Sony Xperia P
Sony Xperia P (Image below) became the first addition of the evening to the Sony’s NXT series running on Android. Sony Xperia P has a single-bodied look with its body built of aluminum. The Xperia P sports a 4-inch touchscreen, whose quality is “close to reality” as per touted by Sony. The display also utilizes company’s WhiteMagic Technology, which provides a wider viewing angle even in bright light conditions. The phone is equipped with a decent 8-megapixel camera at its rear, which is capable of shooting superb quality images and 1080p video. Sony Xperia P will hit the market in second quarter of this year and will sport three different finishes.

Sony Xperia U
Sony Xperia U (Image below) sports similar features but with few differences. The Xperia U carries a 5-megapixel camera against the 8-megapixel camera of Xperia P. It is capable of shooting 2D as well as 3D panoramic stills. Though Xperia U has a display working on “Bravia Engine”, it lacks WhiteMagic Technology”.

- Memory: 14 GB Storage, 512MB RAM
- Camera: 5 MP rear camera with auto-focus and LED flash, VGA Camera at front
- Connectivity: GPRS, EDGE, Wi-Fi, DLNA, NFC, Bluetooth, MicroUSB support
- Other Features: Proximity , Accelerometer, Compass, Timescape UI, Scratch-resistant glass
- Color Availability: Black, White and bottom caps are exchangeable in white, black, pink, yellow
Both the devices are built with decent looks as well as flock of features. Sony Xperia P can be connected to the TV using HDMI port and Xperia smart dock.

Sony has issued a warning to other Android based smartphone makers with these two beauties as these devices have all the features the current youth requires, however no pricing factor was revealed in the press event.
