Samsung Reveals Galaxy Pocket – Another Budget Android Smartphone
Yesterday on March 7, Samsung announced another Android based budget smartphone which is being called as Samsung Galaxy Pocket. The new Galaxy Pocket will join the ranks with the likes of Galaxy Y and other entry-level Android smartphones by Samsung.
The Samsung will be made available in Europe first and will be rolled out for other countries gradually. This new entry-level device sports a 2.8-inch TFT touchscreen giving resolution of 240x320px. It is loaded with Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) operating system and like all other Samsung deices, it features unique TouchWiz UI. The Galaxy Pocket also comes with a pre-installed Samsung’s own ChatON messenger.
The Galaxy Pocket is powered by a processor clocked at 832MHz and has 2GB of internal memory which can later be expanded up to 32GB. In the camera department, Samsung has pulled off a decent performance by providing a 2MP camera for this entry-level device. The device supports GPRS, EDGE (HSDPA, HSUPA), Wi-Fi (802.11b/g/n), standard Bluetooth and USB support.
Tough Samsung has not revealed its pricing factor, rumors states that Galaxy Pocket will be even cheaper than Galaxy Y, which is available at around Rs.7000 ($140).
