Lenovo K800 to Become Intel’s First MedField Smartphone

Intel, one of the largest chip manufacturers in the world, has jumped into Smartphone market with Lenovo K800 being their first device to run on Intel chips. Intel were claiming to announce first Smartphone since last six months. The announcement finally happened on Tuesday in CES 2012 when vice president of Lenovo Inc, Liu Jun, took stage. He also confirmed that this smartphone is just a beginning.

Lenovo K800 will feature 4.5 inch multi-touch screen and two cameras with rear being 8 megapixels minimum. Powered by Medfield processor from Intel, this device will run Android 4.0 aka Ice Cream Sandwich. Thus, Intel’s production boost will also power up Android  usage across the globe in upcoming year.

After Lenovo, it was Motorola who announced production of Smartphone powered by Intel atom “medfield” processors. Though there was no official announcement regarding specific products, officials confirmed that both Tablet and Smartphones will run on Intel atom processors. Intel keynote later ended with presentation displaying “Ultrabook Project” that will tour 12 musicians across the globe performing for philanthropic causes.
