IF I Die Facebook App – Leave Final Words For Loved Ones

The social networking giant, Facebook has millions of users ranging from school going kids to age old grandparents. Even though we might not have seen any profile after any person has passed on, Facebook profiles certainly do not expire with their owners. Thus new If I Die application on Facebook is built keeping this scenario in mind.

This new app will make certain that if someone dies who has opted for this new app on Facebook, The social part of that person will still post his last wishes and welfare message to friend’s wall.

Once any user opts for this app, the application will ask user to provide three trustees (which should be on Facebook) who will have the responsibility of verifying your death. After confirming trustees, a user can create any number of status updates or can create videos which will be posted on friend’s walls after the confirmation of user’s death by its trustees. One can schedule all videos to be posted at once or at some interval.

Although this is a little unpleasant idea to post status updates or messages post death, the Wilook, the company behind this app said, it built If I Die because no one can claim exactly when he or she is going to die! “We all have things to say and don’t necessarily have the audience with the patience to hear us,” stated CEO and Co-founder of Willok, Eran Alfonta. “Actually we all want to leave something behind; we all want to leave a stamp behind us.”

Eran got this idea from one incident that took place in Italy involving his married friends who were in Italy and escaped a car accident narrowly. After coming back they asked Eran to build one website which will help them to record a message for their kids if something happen to them while on trip. The message however will only be posted if thy die and their death are verified by someone.

If I Die will even allow users to post messages years after death, for example, if one user is diagnosed with some disease, she can then record message for her son or daughter which will be posted on respective Facebook wall every year on birthday.

The application currently allows updates to be posted on user’s public profile only but Eran said, the company is working towards letting users send message to every user individually and even to those who are not on Facebook. Public posting feature will be free to all users while discrete messaging feature will cost some subscription fee annually.

So what are you waiting for? Go and record messages and statuses for your loved ones, after all no one can foretell the death!
