Mobile World Congress 2012- Expectations and Assumptions
Mobile World Congress is the biggest event in the world of mobile technology. As usual it is to be held in Barcelona, Spain during the period of 27th February- 1st March. Lots of assumptions have been made about products that could get unveiled at this event. We at Teknowlodgy list down possible releases from different manufacturers across the globe.
Acer is expected to release CloudMobile, a Smartphone running on Android 4.0 aka Ice Cream Sandwich. It will feature 4.3 inch display and Dolby sound system. As per the name suggests, the Smartphone might use AcerCloud cloud storage service from Acer. Below is the possible design of CloudMobile as listed by one of British blog on Internet.
Asus can come up with Padfone, a hybrid device that can be toggled between 4.3 inch Smartphone and 10 inch tablet. Few YouTube videos from Asus show off advantages of using Padfone. We can expect this device to get unveiled at MWC 2012. There were rumors about release of Android OS’s next version code named as “Jelly Bean” but possibilities have been ruled out as less than 5% devices are currently running on Android 4.0 aka Ice Cream Sandwich.
HTC booth at MWC 2012 will be a hot-spot for new Android devices. If reports are to be believed HTC will release four Smartphones from One series running on Android ICS. One S, One X, One V and One XL are possible names of the devices. One X has Tegra 3 quad core processor running within it while One S will run on dual core 1.5 GHz processor. One V is for those who are fond of musics. There is no word on One XL yet.
As we reported few days back, LG will be releasing a Windows Phone named LG Miracle. Apart from it, three Android phones will be coming out of LG’s booth at MWC 2012. Tegra 3 chips are becoming integral part of hardware of new gen Smartphones. LG X3 is no exception to this definition with its Tegra 3 quad-core processor. Next version of popular LG Optimus 3D, named as Lg Optimus 3D 2 and Samsung Galaxy Note like LG Optimus Vu are two more Android based devices.
Microsoft will be releasing consumer preview of Windows 8 at MWC 2012 as we reported few days back. There is also a buff about Windows Phone update named Tango. It is aimed at low-end Smartphones to stretch market for Windows Phone OS in developing countries. After unveiling of Tango update, Nokia is expected to release one more two more Windows Phone. Three Asha text phones for low-income users and one Symbian based phone are also in line-up.
Samsung can come up with next variant of Samsung Galaxy SII. To be named as Samsung Galaxy SII Plus, this device will run on Android ICS. There is also a rumor of Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet featuring stylus for touch control. For Sony, this will be there first MWC without Ericsson but it doesn’t mean their front is cold at MWC . Two new Xperia devices, Xperia P and Xperia U, are expected to get unveiled. Sony Xperia P will feature 1 GHz ST-Ericsson dual core processor. While Xperia U will be low-end Smartphone.
Officials of Facebook, RIM and other technology biggies will be giving keynote at the event. Also, carriers like Verizon and AT&T will flaunt there LTE plans. The event will be influenced by quad-core processors, new network connection possiblities and certainly new desktop OS from Redmond Camp!
