RIM Unveils BlackBerry 10 With Developer Hardware

Finally, the wait was over when Research In Motion unveiled newest BlackBerry 10 OS to show off strengthen muscles. The first look of operating system has definitely left positive impression on customers, developers and press. Demoed on Dev Alpha device, BlackBerry 10 shows up many promises.

Dev Alpha device that RIM showed up with new OS provided a glimpse at superior configuration of future BlackBerry devices that will run on new OS. Dev Alpha features massive 4.2 inch screen boasting pleasant resolution of 1280 x 768. It offers storage capacity of 16 GB and is powered by 1 GB of RAM. It also features HDMI capacity and microSD slot for further extension of storage capacity. However, currently operating system powering Dev Alpha is not BlackBerry 10 OS but PlayBook OS that is little bit tweaked to demo how powerful BlackBerry 10 OS could turn out to be.

As convinced by officials from RIM, BlackBerry 10 OS mainly concentrates on gesture controls. It means that swiping through app menus will be more smooth now and it will also reveal notifications. Instead of physical QWERTY keyboard, BlackBerry10 OS now has improved keyboard that also follows gesture based controls suggesting possible sentence formations and correcting wrongly spelled words.

It has been said that RIM is going to concentrate more on gaming capabilities of their new OS. First steps were taken by Gameloft when they announced release of 11 new games for BlackBerry 10 platform in near future. RIM officials displayed demo of N.O.V.A 3. PixelMag also displayed magazine app for new OS. Though there was nothing new about the app compared to its Android and iOS counterparts but an offer of 10 minutes per month free magazine reading.

RIM has decided to flood market with BlackBerry 10 OS apps making developers open to SDK that can be downloaded from today itself.
