Design:
Though this is cheaper version of Bold 9900, the device looks surprisingly decent. It is well-built and fits nicely in hands, thanks to its thickness. Keypad is very nicely carved so as to make it easier for users to use it without any extra efforts.
Display:
The 2.45-inch TFT display gives decent resolution of 480×360 pixels and is also pleasurable to eyes. It is bright enough to make it visible even in broad daylight conditions.
Performance:
The BlackBerry Bold 9790 has 1GHz processor and 768MB RAM which makes it a decent performer. The processor works smoothly under the hood make ensure that not a single thing goes lagged. The device sports all new BlackBerry OS 7. Still it leaves a lot to be desired as new small icons do not make use of display size and the whole things feels outdated.
All the signatory applications bundled with Bold 9790 are as pleasant as they always are and thus we can give full credit to the company for bringing them to us. The device is also loaded with additional apps for Facebook and Twitter.
Talking about camera experience, its performance is indeed the best we found so far in BlackBerry devices. The user interface attached with camera is also easy to handle and thus makes camera experience an unforgettable one.
This device is available in Rs.26450 ($539) on Flipkart and Rs.25999 ($520) on Letsbuy.
Though it is an excellent alternative for Bold 9900, there are some obvious disadvantages to this device:
- No HD video recording
- No FM radio
- No secondary camera
- Audio quality is poor
- No flash support
- Lock button is rather stiff!
